Not Too Short, Shorts
I’m loving some of this summer’s swimwear! Age appropriate (for men like myself, and still stylish)! Asos has some great stuff at very agreeable prices.

Perfect Fit
You’ve heard the expression, “Clothes make the man.” Well, my take on it is, “Clothes that fit make the man.” Baggy shirts were big in the 80’s and 90’s (remember Bd Baggy?), but today’s look is tailored and finished. Even larger men can benefit form a well tailored shirt.
If you buy off the rack, find a tailor. I have a great list of them that I’ve collected over the years. If you buy custom clothes, or want to give that a try, consider Colleen Bradley at Hilburn.
No need to look like a slob, when you can easily look your best.

What’s In Your Closet?
For slimmer men, men’s shopping is basically a pain in the rear. The cuts are wrong, the legs are too wide, and if you find something that fits, the colors or fabrics suck. I’m sure if I spent some time online, I could find things I like. Recently, a facebook friend was making the same complaint and one of his friends recommended Belk.
Much to my surprise there is a Belk store near New Braunsfels. So, of course, I hopped into the car and drove to it. When you arrive, the store looks like a fancy plumbing fixture store, certainly not the entrance I expected for a retail clothing shop, but nice nonetheless.
Blek entrance in New Bransfels It is a bit of an odd store, not too large, and filled with vignettes of major brands, bit tiny ones with a limited selection. I will give them credit for carrying varied sizes and well-stocked with the hard to find “men’s short shorts,” 7 inch inseam. So that made me happy, particularly at a $25 (on sale) price point.
The inventory sports a number of things you won’t find at Macy’s or Dillard or Nordys. I think their buyers are bit more youthful.
Intersting color combos A tartan blazer form the house brand. I would not say to make a mad dash down there, but if in the area, it is work a quick walk-through.

Sanguine Sangria!
I’m a big fan of Sangria for a summer cocktail, especially on a pool day, but I am not a fan of paying twelve bucks a bottle for it when it disappears so quickly. (I typically purchase Appa Superfruit Sangria at Whole Foods – it is quite delicious) I’ve tried a few online recipes and they just never quite made the cut. So completely by accident, I poured the remainder or a bottle of Tangerine-Lime flavored fizzy water from Randalls into a half-filled glass of Barefoot Pinot Noir. (I was probably trying to make it taste better!)
Wow! This stuff is amazing. It tastes like the best Sangria I’ve ever had. Add to that, it is super cheap to make. Win, win, win!!! So go buy the cheap stuff, mix up a vat and serve it to all your poolside companions.
Enjoy!
