Willkommen Fredericksburg! (Day Trip)
Looking for a single day get-away, we decided to hop in the car and head northwest of Austin to Fredericksburg, Texas. I hadn’t visited the town in a while, so I was due for a little culture, shopping, dining, etc.. The town was surprising hopping, but I think people wanted to get out and about since we had been having crappy weather all week and Saturday was quite nice.
The food, meh. I can’t even recall the name of the place we ate, but chili and cornbread seemed fine for a winter day. Cheap and easy.
Shopping… well there was a lot of the usual; toffee, coffee, chocolate, pies, ice cream, fudge, popcorn, nick-nacs, shabby chic, antler furniture, toiletries, etc… I was surprised to see the number of high-end stores; galleries, supper clubs, sundries, and design studios. Apparently, the 1% found Fredericksburg!
We stopped in house. wine., a local wine pub, and had a few glasses of vino. it was a nice retreat from he hustle and bustle of the street. I think a weekday would be best of you’re in the mood to shop.
